Is it possible to undervolt mobile Sandy Bridge?

The i5-2410m specifically. Getting an X220 soon and trying to find ways to squeeze as much battery life out of it as I can.

You can try doing software undervolting by using setFSB I believe.

Been searching around for info and it seems like SetFSB isn't compatible with mobile Sandy Bridge frown.gif

Try Throttlestop...it's pretty awesome. smile.gif
post #6 of 11
You might need ThrottleStop just to control the throttling problems that the X220 has.

http://forum.lenovo.com/t5/X-Series-ThinkPad-Laptops/X220-cpu-throttling-problem/td-p/428879/page/53

It's also a good tool to play around with Turbo Boost and the multipliers. Unfortunately, Intel removed easy under volting from the Core i design so you won't find any software that will let you do that.

ThrottleStop 3.00

Been reading through that thread and it seems like people are only getting throttling when they're stressing both CPU+GPU to the max. Most people having problems also seem to have the more powerful i7 chips whereas I opted for the i5-2410m.

Thanks for the heads up though, I'll keep an eye on the issue in case I come across the problem as well.

i saw in Noctizzle's signature that he has oced his i5-2410m.

Dell vostro 3550(8gb ram) i5 2410m-OC to 3.2 Ghz
Intel3000/AMD HD6630m@ FFXIV Med settings
Win7 ultimate
Custom Bios Whitezone 14

maybe someone can pm him (cause i cannot do it, to new^^) and ask if he would tell us how he has done it^^.
i also have a vostro 3550, only with a i3-2310m. maybe it works with the i3, too.
and could you,Noctizzle, please tell me something about this bios? where to get it or how to customise the dell bios? cause the dell bios is nothing more, than a very bad copy of the windows hardware manager.
what are the "FFXIV Med settings" ?

FFXIV Med settings is the MMORPG Game that i play.

The custom bios is from a dodgy friend, which allows me to overclock. Ill ask him to come here to Post it, but hes a bit weird so bare with him. Hes the same person that made some of the custom bios's for the HP mini 311c ( to sort out the mess that is the HP mini 311c's bios ) on myhpmini.com

ill get him to make an account with the name Paul in it somewhere
