Need some advice please!

Well I'm upgrading my rig.

I have the option of buying a qx9650 for 220$ and overclocking it to 4.2ghz. (simple new thermal and drop it in)

Or I can get i5-2400 + ASUS H67 for 140$+ Buying new ram. Comes out to almost the same price (But that processor can't OC and that worries me, wouldnt a 4.2-4.5 ghz 12mb quad beat the stock clock i5?) Also, I dont think the motherboard is very good, so upgrading later might be redundant.

The 2400 actually beats the 9650 in a lot of things.

Ofc, that would be ideal, but I'm not going to come into an extra 200 dollars I can blow anytime soon :<.

Please does anyone have a benchmark of a highly clocked 45nm quad 3.8-4.2ghz vs a stock i5 sandybridge?
