Try a restore, iTunes should pick it up in recovery mode. If not get it in to an apple store.

Is your apple care still valid?

have you tried removeng the device from laptop, then connecting to computer,
or in itunes on laptop did you set permissions for other devices to connect to iphone? had to do that with wifes ipod to connect to computer after laptop was not a viable option anymore

Not sure about Apple care but i just got the phone 2 days ago.

This is my first time installing iTunes on both my PC and laptop. Will try that when i'm home.
