nVidia 8800 ULTRA dead? artifacts + bsod - Page 2

Take it apart, clean out the heatsink of dust with a paintbrush, clean and apply fresh thermal paste.

It might be overheating.

Otherwise it's just faulty.

You could try baking it (look up baking a graphics card on youtube)

Btw, somehow when I let windows choose my drivers everything is cool.

But when I download the latest drivers from the nvidia the artifacts/bsod are coming back.

Maybe resting it will help? I won't use the PC for 1 month because I'm on holiday
Hopefully this will help, if not I think I'm going to buy a new VGA.

Because removing stuff from it and repairing is too difficult for me.

Greets
its not difficult, trust us, just unscrew the screws everyone you can see including back sides and front of the card then wiggle the heatsink (plastic cover) whilst pulling the cover away from the card and it will eventually come off easily (the therml paste will be holding it on kind of tightly) then clean off the thermal pate with a tissue or wet wipe then pre-heat oven to 200 degrees for 1o minutes, then make 4 foil balls out of kitchen foil and place the card on top of the foil balls (one ball in each corner of the card) makes sure the card is facing with the GPU core itself upwards not downwards and leave it baking for 10-15 minutes..... after take it out very carefully and slowly and leave it to cool down for 25 minutes, then re-apply some new thermal paste (much like a CPU but a bit more as GPU'S are generally a little larger) then re-assemble the card(make sure you write down or somehow record where each screw goes) whack her in the system and power up lol

Maybe it's time for it to RIP! Awesome card though

If you've cleaned all the dust off, cleaned off the old and re-applied some new TIM. Not much else you can do. Is windows installing it correctely or just as a VGA device?
