Okay, final comparison.
4.2ghz:

3.4ghz:

This doesn't exhibit the issues I had previously seen. Strange. The gpus were both at ~93% the entire time.

Yeah that looks like a GPU bottleneck not a CPU one.
It's a different program though so it doesn't mean much.

Both, in Crysis 1 the gpus are about 50-70% and in Crysis 2 the gpus are around 70-90%

My 470s @ 900 core are slightly slower (probably 5-6 fps slower) in Crysis 1 (loves AMD) but even so at 5.3Ghz I was still cpu bound in the lowest fps area.

You need to overclock the cpu more, Crysis 1 is a cpu limited game.

This is the first time I've ever heard anyone say that Crysis 1 is a CPU-limited game. Up until today, I've only heard people say that it's a GPU-limited game, meaning that the GPU makes the biggest difference.

For example: when I upgraded from my E8400 @ 4.05GHz (in the EP45-UD3P with 1200MHz 2 x 2GB G.SKILL "Pi" series installed) to Sandy Bridge (my sig rig), I still had a GTX 470. Now, my performance in Crysis 1 was certainly a little better after upgrading to Sandy Bridge, but not by a lot - even after overclocking. However, once I replaced my 470 with the 580, my performance in Crysis 1 became perfectly liquid-smooth. It was a huge difference. I was even able to raise the Motion Blur all the way up as high as it goes and it's still liquid smooth. So thanks to the GTX 580, I was finally able to max the settings out 100% (as far as the in-game menu options will go) without hurting my performance.

In other words: thanks to the GTX 580, Crysis no longer owns my system. Instead, now my system owns Crysis.

My comment was directed towards systems with more gpu power than yours.

Crysis 1 can be cpu bound for me with 470 SLI, and since AMD runs Crysis 1 better his 6870s are probably pushing ~6-10% fps more than me.

Going from 4GHz to 5.2Ghz netted me about 13 fps more on the min end.

I'm literally about 1 hour away from formatting. I was afraid it could be an issue with my windows installation, but it sounds like this is hardware related. Can you confirm that I am, in fact cpu limited, if so, you'd save me HOURS of work.

Are you running a TOD mod like natural mod or realifesis? I get 100% gpu usage constant without any TOD but when I install realifesis my gpu usage will bog down to around 70-80% a lot of the time.
