I doubt they will get much smaller on a silicon fabrication tbh. They have a new way for fabricating Graphine which you can print circuits on and then run electric current over... Also, it can be a few molocules thick

10nm is already pushing "a couple molecules thick." Quantum tunnelling becomes a huge problem as processes get smaller. We're getting close to the lithographic ceiling.

OK, lets clarify, Graphine can be a mere atom thick mesuring in at 0.142nm thick.

And yes, it's printable.

(Seriously, 2018, That ETA is so far away the chances of that deadline being anywhere near accurate is very low)

I'm confident in Intel's abilities and resources but I think 10nm is the end of the road for silicon. Reliability of electrical signal transmission is already becoming a concern these days.

Yes, the atomic diameter is just about half that of silicon, but quantum tunnelling still stands as a major source of leakage; and being able to fabricate a graphene wire that is ~142pm in diameter is different from creating a transistor. The research behind it is nice, but the development has brought it only so far that it may not even be in use within many years (at least in practical, affordable applications.)

Computers are going to get crazy once chip manufacturers hit the physical size limit. They'll have to start making larger and larger chips to increase performance. A hundred years from now your CPU will be the size of a refrigerator, packed with like 10^30 transistors containing only a dozen atoms each.
