Battlefield 3 question - Page 3

@OP
Like others have said, there isn't a definitive answer, but the overwhelming consensus is that it more than likely will be on Origin, and Origin only. But BF3 looks so good, I'll let EA get away with this one.

It's actually quite lightweight, streamlined... I honestly don't see the problem with it.

No one complained when you installed TF2 you need Steam, same goes for CSS, and hell even Half Life.

Yet EA gives it a whirl and does a great job imo, and everyone starts complaining. Get over it.
I don't like it because I like having my games all in one place. I don't want to have to open up Origin to run a game when I could run it in Steam if EA and Valve weren't so piss-poor at discussions and compromise.
And if EA just hated their customers like every other large business out there.

Steam has that also.

So what exactly is it that everyone likes about Origin? I have not had any poor experiences with it, but I don't see anything better about it except it has some exclusives.

We don't like origin not because it's not a good program, but because it's another program like this that we need to run to have some specific games. More game managers = more hassle.

As an Alpha tester for BF3...you will need Origin to launch the game and then you will be forced to run BF3 from your web browser. Battlelog is going to be the server browser, single player launcher, and the co-op launcher.

I can't post what is being said on the private forums for the Alpha

I may only be speaking for myself but my only gripe with Origin is that its made by EA. EA have always been the microsoft/apple of the gaming world. Their products are nearly always thrown out on the market full of issues, and their after product service is rubbish. So they tend to stay broke too...Like I said, just my opinion but they don't seam to care less about customers. Those who suffered the BF2 install and update woes will understand

If Origin was all that they wouldn't need to force you to use it by denying there games to steam, you'd chose it because it was good. I don't like that its got x-box and playstation fanboy intergration, facebook is pointless, should have steam integration so we can migrate our friends.

I'm a steam user obviously, but I have origin installed for BFBC2 and its always been rubbish. Even now, despite me having BFBC2 installed its asking me to download for install. Instead of telling me of any updates...

Rant, Rant, Rant.....

I don't believe it's been confirmed that battlelog will be the only way to do all that.

you dont need origin to run the games installed.

so maybe you will just have to activate it on origin (drm?) and thats it.

You don't need to, and out of all of them that I've read I have not seen anything official.

I hope it's not the case, I don't really like having to use my web browser for all that.

Yeah lets just have all the publishers make their own origin.. .. Since nobody seems to mind
