I hope there's price drops .
Just because you think BD won't have better price : performance compared to a 2500k/2600k for your uses, that doesn't mean it wont for everybody elses uses.

sadly I expect BD to be worse in games

and core count won't solve that

Hmm, i'm more interested in the price for the six cores. Should be some more win if they have a chance to unlock

I always guessed that bd will be priced the same as a 2600k, If it perfroms better in multithreaded apps then this will be a bargain. I wonder how far amd will be behind the new sb-e and ivy intel cpu's ??

I have already began the process of getting an FX-8170. It's a long drawn out process of many references and hints towards the chips to the Fiancee before she finally catches on and says the 4 word combination that is basically the green light "how much is it?".
Infact my method is so refined that I was ooogling the Llano chips and she said those 4 words and I don't even want an APU, I had to change to damage control mode so I know that she knows that I am waiting for the 8170 in q1 2012 lol.

Would be strange if it performed less in multithreaded apps then a 2600K and cost the same ...

Anyway if the 6 cores unlock, I'll get one of those. Should have a nice price and still be a great chip if it has >= Nehalem IPC.

decent price...but until i see benches and performance im not sure. i currently have the 1075 6 core and im very happy with it. I never really push it anyways, so not sure if upgrading would be worth it right now. I really want to upgrade my graphics card first...so that might be my big purchase, the 6870's are looking good and i can crossfire them with my currenty 4870.

Price isnt terrible actually for the 8 cores, but then i also see they are planning a 10 core next year so i might hold off and skip this one....i jumped the gun on my last 2 builds so...lol might hold off

we shall see....im starting to drool...

What about multi-threaded games..? (Like Battlefield 3 ..?)
