So, because certain Intel "fanboys" are being irrational, does that mean you have to be?

That's the point, though. It offers me nothing and wouldn't for the majority of users. Don't get me wrong, I'm not saying it doesn't have its market or isn't worth an extra $100 for some. If I was a video editor and could receive some benefit from HT, I'd jump all over it. I gave my opinion based upon my needs. Everyone's needs vary, but the 2600k isn't worth an extra $100 to the majority of people, IMO.

Was it ever established whether or not these processors will work with certain 890FX boards with bios upgrades like MSI said? Or will we need the black slot boards? I'd like to run with one of these in my MSI 890FXA-GD70 but is that reasonable to expect?

As it's been said a million times, it's two different architectures. it's not apples to apples to say 4 v 8 cores??!!!??? omG

That's fair enough that it doesn't offer you any benefits. It has benefits for some people, though.

Will this be faster per core than my current sig rig?

IDK, I really have no idea till it comes out, but till it does I would bet that core for core my current sig rig could best an 8core amd processor. Would 8core have more overall processing power, maybe, but would I care if running applications that only use cores 1-4...???

I really hope amd pulls out a hat trick, but yet to bee seen.

Hmm 8 threads vs 8 threads... lets see if they best intels 4 core with HT. THEY BETTER IF THEY WANT TO COMPETE and make me care about more cores..

Why do you put core for core and 8core amd processor in the same sentence ?
And why do you doubt that it wouldn't have more overall power then a i7 920 ? Are you serious ? Let's say it's exactly as fast as your cpu single threaded, 8 real cores (they are real cores) would beat the crap out of your 4 real cores + 4 "virtual" cores.

IPC being equal to nehalem is almost a worst-case scenario for BD. And BD will almost certainly clock much higher too.

Do you mean it would be bad if the IPC were the same or that at it's slowest it will still be equal to nehalem's IPC?

I'm sorry if I'm asking a stupid question. I seemed to have misplaced my mind today.
