Just saying its easier than messing with all the mobo's automatic fan controls.

Also you shouldn't need anything there, mine is empty

To answer the question in the OP, it shouldn't matter whether something is plugged into the cpu fan plug, if you want to find out if it matters plug one of the fans into it.

Wintermaul, eh? Haven't played that in a while....

I'll think about a fan controller for the future.

So you think the adhesive was necessary? For something other than holding the backplate on while you put the screws in?

Not at all, I just found it odd that you actually removed the adhesive. I think something else is to blame, check all your connections, make sure everything is seated properly, ect.

Did you take any additional cables out? I have forgotten to plug one of my 8-pin power cables back in before..... took me 3 hours to realize it too. This caused it to boot to bios then shut right back off.

You should be able to set CPU fan to Unmonitored, Is your pump running you might be overheating straight away causing the shut down.

Well, looks like it was a fluke. I actually have forgotten to plug in the 8-pin connector countless times, but it looks like it was nothing. I just started the computer again, and everything works fine.

I did shake the tower around quite a bit before that, so maybe the screw was causing a short...seems unlikely. Thanks for all the replies!

46ºC maximum load. I'm pretty happy since one of my radiator fans is pulling air from nowhere. Now to see how low this stays with overclocking...
