Thread Starter

Trying to set up my computer for home theater use and I'm not the greatest at working with audio components, I've never owned a sound card, just always an onboard. I've read through SPDIF you can get 5.1 and a compressed version of 7.1 but I'm looking for an uncompressed 7.1.

Video Card:

Sound Card I'm looking at:

Separate receiver to run line through:
Onkyo 9400 THZ 7.1

What's wrong with compression if it is uncompressed to its full afterwords?
