Easiest, most straightforward way to install ssd on laptop

Thread Starter
I just ordered a Samsung 128gb ssd and have been looking around on installation guides but they all seem to get needlessly complicated by trying to transfer data on the hard disk to the new ssd. I do not need this. Could I basically just swap out the drives, install Win 7 on the ssd, and be done? I'm confident the ssd comes with the latest firmware so there won't even be a need to update that.

If you're not wanting to transfer your data then it seems that's all you'd need to do.

Do you have the driver disk? If not, you need another computer to download them from the manufacturer's website.

Is there even no need to wipe the current hard drive? I'm worried I'll have problems with Windows Activation if the serial number is on two different drives.

If may say windows has all ready been used on this key, but there is a toll free number you can phone and they will give you an activation code, trust me ive done this tons of times.
