new general use monitor

Thread Starter
I am looking at getting a new monitor and was looking for a little advice.

the last one I purchased was for a friend and that was the dell u2311h. So far this is my first choice but since he doesn't play fps I don't know how well they play on the monitor.

Is there anyone with this monitor that has any experiance with first person shooters.

I read a review here and it seems that it has really low input lag.

another option I was looking at is this beauty seeing as this is a simliar model I am assuming it's game performance will be similiar. The 1920x1200 resolution would be great though as I don't mind black bars during my movies...and I have a 46" 16:9 tv as well

The dell u2311h and the u2412m should both be good choices for general usage, if you love the color quality that IPS displays bring.

While I have no info of the input lag/ghosting of the U2412m (yet, they should have a TFTCentral review up in a couple of weeks), the dell u2311h has quite low input lag and minimal ghosting for an IPS panel. So, unless you feel limited by 60hz itself, there's nothing in this monitor not suited for fast paced gaming.

Sounds good. Google search for them once in a while. A good review will show you the ghsoting / input lag comparisons to the U2311h because that's the most risky part about the display currently. But we'll see.
