GTX 570 upgrade or new system?

Thread Starter
Hi everyone.

I feel its about time for an upgrade and I was thinking about getting a GTX 570.
My current system has a
gtx 260,
intel Q9550 @3.00ghz,
Asrock N7AD motherboard,
Corsair H50 watercooler,
8gb ddr2 ram,
1tb hard drive,
NZXT M59 case,
Dvd drive,
Blueray drive,
seventeam 850w power supply.

But I was thinking, would it be a better idea to sell that system and start a new one with one of the Intel Core i7-2600K 3.40GHz CPU's and the gtx 570? What do you guys think? And would anyone have any idea how much I could get for my current system?

Thanks
Daniel

Get the 570 and then wait till the new CPU's to make a new system, then reuse the 570.

I thought the Intel Core i7-2600K 3.40GHz (Sandybridge) Socket LGA1155 was the new CPU?

New ones from Intel are coming in the beginning of 2012 if I'm not mistaken. So wait for those.

Intel has a tick tock system though

Release new socket, "perfect" new socket

Repeat Repeat Repeat Repeat and then some more.

Bleeh hard to keep up with all the time

Ivy Bridge CPU is going to replace Sandy Bridge CPU

i5 2500k / i7 2600k to mention some

Uses same 1155 socket basically

Which means you should be able to buy new cpu and use current 1155 board

That's your tock right there.

Socket 2011 motherboard replacing 1366 motherboards

Will be using Sandy Bridge E CPU Extreme/Enthusiast

Featuring Quad Channel RAM and up to 40x PCIe 3.0

That's your tick right there lol

If you think you could push your CPU a little harder than 3 Ghz, then having a 570 for the time being would be fine. Anything more than a single 570 will start bottlenecking your CPU at the current speed.

I agree with the above, wait for Ivy Bridge.
