Question on running sound card in shared slot

Thread Starter
I have this motherboard with an i7 2600k: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16813128492

I'm planning on connecting 2 gtx580's that I've ordered tomorrow to PCIE x16_1 & _2. My question is I already own a SB Titanium Fatality sound card that is PCIe x1.

I'd like to move the card to PCIe slot 3 which is x4, hower it "shares bandwidth" with the first 2 slots and runs at x1 when those slots are in use. Will I run into any performance issues at all, trying to run 2 cards with my sound card in the 3rd shared x16 slot since it's x1 anyway?

OR, alternatively, should I use a PCIe extender to come from the x1 slot and avoid the 3rd shared slot entirely?
(Would it make the least bit of difference?)

Thanks kindly for any input.

Anyone have any experience with this type of scenario? I've not been able to find much information on if I'd be able to use the slot without affecting video/sound performance.

Ya, I've done that before, and ran video benchmarks with the sound card installed in both slots, and it made no difference at all.

Your good!!!
