Jeez man, calm the heck down already.

No one is attacking you.

Really.

It was a joke, jeez.

I think Global warming probably exists, but i don't think it's as big a deal as some people make it out to be. I do know we have to cut down on certain emissions anyway because we know they cause health problems(carbon monoxide, ozone, etc). Some of the same tech that cuts down on the "harmful" stuff can be used to cut down carbon dioxide as well, so developing them is actually a pretty good idea IMO. If carbon dioxide turns out to be a red herring, oh well we can still cut down on the other stuff.

That way nobody can ever actually challenge the veracity of the alarmists's claims because anybody that doesn't believe in man-made Climate Change is obviously not a "real" scientist.

Its kind of like how they always claim that any extreme in weather condition is caused by global warming:

Is it really hot? Global warming.
Is it really cold? Global warming.
Is it raining a lot? Global warming.
Is it not raining a lot? Global warming.

The Global Warming theory isn't based on "Is it really hot or cold"? It is based on "How much colder or warmer has it gotten over time?" Change and the rate at which it changes. The only facts we have are that the poles are getting warmer and the temperate zones are getting colder in the last 100 years. We have evidence of previous temperature changes and how fast they ussually occured and the changes in the last 100 years are more dramatic than in the past. There is basically no evidence that Global Warming doesn't exist. The only evidence that Global Warming doesn't exist that climate change is natural...but that is also the evidence in favor of Global Warming since the rate of climate change is what the topic is all about.

And like I said earlier...this data that supposedly is blowing a hole in Glowbal Warming is actually more supportive of Global Warming. More heat was given off by the earth over the last ten years...that meant it was hotter. Turn your stove on and hold your hand over it at low, medium, and high heat. Which one do you think you will feel the most heat hitting your hand? Which setting will have the most heat stored in the burner of the stove?

We can go round and round about this. The "facts" are only as good as the people collecting them and it has been proven that there are plenty of unscrupulous researchers out there willing to cook the numbers to make their theories more believable.

The biggest flaw in all of the consensus view on climate change is the glaring fact that they are trying so ardently to stifle dissent. What are they worried about?

It wasn't as mainstream because it was never really captured by the media...

but today, media blows everything out of proportion (swine flu, Global Warming)..

If the 70s media had as much of an impact on our lives like now, everyone would have known about Global Cooling and would have started forest fires or something...

They are trying to make it seem more ugent than it is...by far. However, there is reason for that. Humans are slow to change what is working for us and we tend to only look at current situation. If you see something that might be devastating 200 years from now you will need to start convincing people about it ASAP to have the fix in place 50 years from now. The "scientists" that get too passion hyped on the issue will try to fudge their numbers to make it look worse than it is in an attept to make people realize the trend sooner. All they end up doing is hurting their cause, though, which makes me wonder what side of the fence they are really on.

And if humans are slow to react you have to remember the planet is even slower. Let's say that something was discovered that made Global Warming a fact...we could stop all CO2 emmissions tomorrow and it would take a 1000 years for the amosphere to go back to pre-industial era conditions; perhaps longer.

So that is why there is such a big deal made about it...I personally am still on the fence about global warming being all that bad. Sucks for some coastal cities and the plant and wild life that likes a certain temp, but the extra rain in the temperate zones and warmer northern and southern reaches may not be a bad thing. I don't know...what some people are calling Global Warming could also be called terraforming (on terra, but you get the idea)

This kind of thinking is so arrogant and condescending it is offensive to me to even consider it. What gives these people the right to radically alter our present quality of life just on the chance that maybe in 200 years something that is completely unprovable might occur...

The US has secret underground base at the Antarctica and the heat they're producing underground is causing the ice caps to melt.

Is that the Nazi UFO base from 1946? Or is that the base under the transdimensional time warp they discovered in 2004? It makes a difference. Please clarify.
