Thermaltake Toughpower 1000w Tri 6970

Hello,

I am looking to upgrade when the ivy bridge hits market (Around April 2012 i know) But am currently running 2 6970's with a QX9650 My question is will this power supply run 3 6970's ok with a new Ivy Bridge i7 at a overclock (whatever that speed may be) round 5Ghz i guess.

http://www.thermaltakeusa.com/Produc...7&ID=1511#Tab1

Ive been reading around and people claim to be running 2600K @ 5Ghz with 6990 + 6970 just fine but thought i would just ask.

Also im looking to change my watercooling loop around and make it cool the GFX as well do you think a 600LP/H Laning DDC + XSPC RX360 with 3 Skarkoon Silent Eagle 2000 be enough to cool all 3 cards?

Thanks For Reading

Regards
Lee

To cool the cards... that would be enough... if you have the CPU there also, I am thinking you will be dissapointed.

As to the power supply, I think you will be cutting it close. You would be around 950W at peak, but I can't imagine you being at peak too often. Depends on your voltages. Also depends if you are going for 6 or 4 core proc.

Better you go with a 1200w psu,
corsair ax1200
antec high current pro1200
Hope this helps.

I ran three unlocked 6950s on my current psu. At 4.8 and 950 core for each gpu, running furmark & ibt simultaneous yieded 1050w for system consumption @ the kill-a-watt. When you factor in the efficiency it was within my psu's capability (per Pheadrus). Why run furmark and IBT at the same time?: http://www.overclock.net/amd-ati/106...6900-data.html

If you are not running your gpus at their max than 1kw is fine even if you end up going with IB.If you have plans to go quad, then might as well just upgrade now

depends what ivy bridge is gonna draw, i pulled 1000w at the wall with 2 6970s at 1.265v 1020/1425 but my i7 970 is also a bit power hungry

Ye its a guess on what the ivy bridges are going to pull, As its still a long way off im really in 2 minds on what to do as im going to be upgrading in nearly a years time would you buy a 6970 at around December when the 7xxx cards come out as it will come down in price abit or get a new 7xxx card and link it with 2 6970's?

Also im going to run 2 loops so one GPU's and one CPU/Mobo The GPU's Will have a RX360 and the CPU 2 x BlackIce GTX 120's all with 2000RPM Fans its going to sound like a wind turbine i know but do you think it will be enough to cool that setup?
