5870 Aftermarket cooling Suggestions

Thread Starter
Since the fan on this puppy is LOUD and it can get hot fast when OCing, I need something new. I have settled on getting the R3 VRM heatsink, however I don't know what to get as for cooling the rest of the card. The Accelero Xtreme 5870 won't fit in my case and I can't justify the high price. I can get an Accelero Twin Turbo Pro for $30 which is a great deal, but I don't know if this will do well enough for overclocking the card fully (I wanna push the limits are far as I can) So if anybody has a better, cheaper solution, please speak now

I wrote this a long time ago...

But I would get that twin turbo pro for 30 bucks and be happy with it

if you really want to push the card, I would recommend the gelid icy vision or the zalman vf3000
both with the thermalright VRM-r3 or VRM-r4

if you have free slots on your computer, the gelid icy can use any pair of 92mm fans, for greater cooling power or quieter cooling.

you can definitely push your card above 1000 on the core with the gelid + vrm-r3/4
memory should remain locked at 1300 or bellow because it wouldn't really affect performance after that, and I read some people back when I was into benching my cards that it can cause some sorts of troubles if you go beyond 1300 on the ram (really don't remember what it was)
