Sapphire 6970 Crossfire BSOD !

Thread Starter
Hey everyone, I recently did my first computer build and ever since I got it I've been having BSOD, I actually been trying to fix it by installing and re-installing new drivers. Now that I installed the new 11.7 CCC I cant open it. Im not sure if 1 or both my cards are fried or its something else. I would like to hear your inputs on this situation. Thanks

Have you tested each card on its own to eliminate if one of the cards is defective, not properly seated and to replace the crossfire bridge ribbon?

Also, if the cards are overclocked, try to set them to the default settings. There is no one fix answer when getting BSOD so have to try everything can think of.

Edit: If you look at the definition of 0x00000001, it is a very broad statement, could be anything from software to hardware.

This probably not the best solution, but considering yours is a fresh build, you can try this:

1. Format your drives and re-install windows.
2. Install all your drivers EXCLUDING display drivers. Meaning, install your chipset drivers, audio drivers, yada yada.
3. Windows will install its own native display drivers. So, at this time DO NOT install the drivers for your card. Your display will look crap, but do not worry. Install the latest windows update including SP1.
4. Finally, go to AMD website, get 11.7 and install it. Let it do its own thing and just select express install, and keep hitting next until done. Restart and you should be golden.

And assuming you have not overclocked your CPU yet.

You can do all that I mentioned with BOTH your cards in your computer and crossfire bridge set. Just make sure your cards are properly seated and crossfire bridge properly seated as well - does not harm to just double check them
