PROBLEM SOLVED**

Just got a new monitor today for an early birthday present. Seems to have fixed the problem.

When I start up the game, I get top and bottom black borders. When I play the game with my native screen resolution (1280x1024) The game stretches fine to fit the screen, but my interface is smushed...the ammo icon and the mini map are pushed up, and the chat log is pushed down. I took a picture in game so you guys could see. Any ideas on what is going on? I have the latest drivers for my card.

Try to create custom resolution in CCC that will fill your desktop fullscreen then clik 'apply' in CCC menu. Go to in game menu and select the resolution you created and see if it helps.

Not to be a douche or anything, but that looks playable. Or just play hardcore servers.
As said above, play around in Catalyst a bit. With my 5750 my hud is about half that high, but higher than normal. Same resolution, too.

if in the game you set 1280x1024, it shouldn't have black borders top and bottom, regardless of what OS screen resolution is set to

but the aspect ratio above looks right to me, I don't know about the positioning

It is definitely playable, but it is very annoying having all that clutter on an already small monitor.

i am also not running it through steam, i got the retail copy...could that have anything to do with it? it did run okay on my 5750 though, without any weird stuff like this happening.

I think BC2 and 6950s just don't play nice. Never had a problem with BC2 with my 5770. but I got a reference open box 6950, plays everything great @ max details, metro 2033, crysis 2 dx11, etc. But with BC2 it freezes and locks up my whole computer about 5 minutes into the game. I've been looking around online and a lot of people are saying it's the drivers. So hopefully with the next wave of drivers these problems can be weaved out. Or maybe they wont even fix it considering how close BF3 is to release.
