Scythe Gentle Typhoon AP-29 [3000RPM]

What's up guys, AP-15's are simply impossible to find and the price ramps ups unimaginably for some of them.

I'm curious to know if the AP-29 model can be run at around 1850 RPM with a fan controller, is it possible?

Thanks in advance.

From what I've read, the ap-29+ with the black propeller sound a bit worse than the ap-15 and others with the grey propeller. It's too bad martin is busy now so he probably won't test them for months.

I've also heard that the noise blocker multiframe fans have a really nice sound to them. IIRC, the multiframe fans don't make the whiny motor noises of the GT, but the overall noise level of them is higher than the GTs because they don't dampen the whooshing sound of air like the GTs.

Bear in mind that the AP-29 uses molex connectors rather than a 3 pin fan connector. I suppose you could fit 3 pin connectors though.

I have 4 AP-29's on my fan controller, I rewired the fans onto a 3 pin. They are just as quiet as the Ap-15's when undervolted. AP-29's are only loud when run at 3000rpm.

Yeah I re-did the wiring to accommodate to a 3 pin on my 4250 RPM model. I under volted it but I do get an annoying whine with them sometimes.

I'm just not sure if I should wait for AP-15's to come back in stock or if I should just move for AP-29's. I could do more with the AP-29's, it would just mean a little more work on my end having to re-do all of the wiring but that isn't that big of a deal for me.

Does anyone know the watts and amps for each of the AP-29's? If I do buy them I'll be buying 12 of them for both of my radiators. I'd like to get a fan controller with RPM monitors, can this be done with AP-29's? I remember reading somewhere that RPM monitors would work with AP-15's but not with the high speed models.

Also does anyone know where I could purchase a THREE WAY, 3-pin splitter?

I can only find 3-pin Y splitters but I want to hook up three fans per channel.

What is the slowest RPM you guys can run a AP-29 at, and still have enough voltage to start the fan at boot? I've always figured, the voltage required to keep them spinning around 1500rpm or so, would be lower than the voltage required to start the fan.

I'm dead set on the AP-29's definitely don't feel like waiting for the AP-15's to come back in stock because at this point it's a little ridiculous to be honest.

I can under volt the AP-30 to an "alright" sound so the AP-29 will be a lot easier with a better sound so I guess I'm set on that.

It'll be great because if I ever really need to move into the 3000RPM range for whatever reason I have the flexibility to do so.

Now the only thing I need to figure out which fan controller I should get.

I also wanted to ask you guys about tubing, what tubing do you guys prefer? From what I can tell it's all personal preference, I find 7/16" to be my favorite but people swear by 1/2".

Lamptron is part of the vendors on OCN now, you might take a look at their fan controllers. I'm about to be picking up some AP-29s myself for my Silver Arrow, but I'm going to be running them at full blast 24/7 lol.

I don't know how you guys can stand these GT's at anything over 900rpm personally drives me up the wall, especially with a bunch of them.
