Its not down to just the speed, its down to the arcutecture of the chip and the i5 is way ahead and you can get most i5s 5GHZ on air but PHII only about 4GHZ.

The 2500K is much more efficient and faster clock for clock, so a 3GHz 2500K would match or beat a 955BE clocked at 4GHz. Think of the 2500K to a 955BE Phenom II as the Athlon 64 to a Pentium 4.

A 2500K will outperform the 955 by a good bit at the same clock speeds and will clock quite a bit higher on average while also drawing less power, I'd pay the 50 quid if you can afford it.
It also beats AMD's six core.
