An i7 takes about 5 days to crack a 10 digit hex WPA/WPA2 - PSK
If you use pyrit from google codes, you can take that down to a few hours with a nice graphics card.

If you do a sli or crossfire setup with a good word list, you can do just about anything.
You can also get it much lower with a high speed workstation card.
Once he gets a hand shake, he could have the drone send the string to a desktop computer for decoding.
If you want to get more extreme, boost the wifi signal with an injector and put about 2watts to the wifi receiver. Than you can get 6 mile distance with a good grid antenna.
But the fcc limits amplifiers to 1watt, you can still find higher ones on ebay though.
