dual u2711's with crossfire? Which cables?

Thread Starter
I just got both of my u2711's last night, but haven't had much time to play with them. The monitors came with a Dual-link DVI cable, but my video cards only have 1 Dual-link DVI each and I'll have to disable crossfire to hook up the second monitor.

So I have a couple of questions:
  • Do I have to hook up my monitors via mini display port?
  • Is there an advantage in using mini display port over Dual-link DVI?

I think display port >DVi in pretty much any circumstance.

So you have 2 monitors, and 2 cards in CFX?

Why can't you just hook each monitor up to each card? I really don't see the problem here, crossfire shouldn't be disabled when you hook up both monitors via DVI.

Are you sure? The ports on the second video card weren't working when I had crossfire enabled. I had to disable crossfire for it to work.

In Crossfire setups only the outputs on the primary card function. You'll need a minidisplayport to DVI or displayport(full size)
