My guess is that SSD's will prove to be much more reliable with time. As the article states (and is common knowledge for everyone here) traditional HDD's rate of failure increases with the age of the drive.
However SSD's should maintain a constant failure rate, regardless of the age of the drive. This would keep SSD's reliability consistent with all other solid state devices such as ram, cpu's, etc.

Of course hard drives are more reliable, they have so many years of engineering built into them. SSDs will catch up though and eventually surpass HDDs.
