Link for BF3 Alpha Testers - 3D Spotting/Commo Rose Petition - Page 2

Right now they whine about spotting, and don't want it in the game.

After the game comes out and snipers lay prone pretty much invisible and kill them, they'll be crying after the spotting function.

Impossible, that's the most retarded thing I've ever heard.
People would just create a macro when w is pressed it spams q.
You go forward and hidden people gets marked.
Non-sense.

EDIT: They could nerf it to reveal proned players, not crouching/standing players.

3D Spotting should be recons only with the spotting perk from bc2

Edit: and guys? You do know that in BC2 there is a cooldown system for it, you can't just spam Q all the time. Sometimes when I press Q on a guy 20 meters away clearly visible, nothing happens.

Well that tends to be more the COD/BC2 crowd that whines about camping, etc. Basically those that haven't played a more tactically driven game. Which is no big deal, to each their own.

Run from cover - cover, flank = win

Give me a game that utilizes your brain over any that makes it "easy" or "streamlined".

I'd just disable 3D Spotting and leave it at 2D (Minimap) only.

Our clan at BFBC2 just has semi-hardcore Mode and we just disable 3D Spotting and enable friendly fire.

We just hate 3D spotting.

I think spotting is a good idea, but it's incredibly broken. I could 'spot' a guy on the other side of the map through all kinds of trees and bushes, and then I could even kill the guy. it's retarded how broken it is. spotting in bc2 was good imo. it worked. If you saw the guy, you could spot them. if you didn't, you couldn't. It's great to help the rest of your team find the snipers and campers. I feel like it's almost needed in order to keep the balance. but as of right now, it's very, very broken. I'm going to wait and see how they implement it into the beta before I sign any petition that wants to remove it from the game completely.

From what I recall BC2 was practically the same way. I would be in a tank or heli and just spam q all day. Either way, 3D spotting at it's current state is a broken feature and I'm happy to see many can agree on that point.

i'm gonna say this one last time.
in the army people communicate whether its shouting to each other or over a communication system such as headsets (which characters in-game actually wear) if someone spots an enemy irl he WILL communicate that to his team, it's the SAME thing in BC2 and BF3. Just because you can't see someone because they are behind a wall doesn't mean that your teammate can't, he's communicating that information to you so you don't die. simple as that.

BF2 had a similar system "enemy spotted" (remember "Charlie spotted") but it only revealed them to your squad unless you were the commander

BF2142 had a helmet unlock that would communicate what ever you saw to your squad mates regardless of position on map (that was neat)

with that said, I really dislike the 3D spotting mostly because of all the spamming that goes on
my fav. your snipping and get taking out by some one with an sabot loaded shot gun from across the map, a guy who is out of range for you but he just aims high for that annoying orange marker over your head

Voted yes on both commo rose and no 3D spotting.

IMO spotting should show enemy in mini map only.
