Yes there is a way to keep your jailbreak. Just update to 4.3.3 in itunes, then follow these instructions

No, you can't "Keep" the jailbreak. When you update, it will set it back to normal, but you can re-jailbreak it.
Do not update to 4.3.4 (or 4.3.5). You want 4.3.3, but iTunes will not give you that option.
What is your current version?

OK. 4.3.3 is the preferred version since it allows you to use the pdf exploit to jailbreak right on the phone using www.jailbreakme.com in the Safari browser.

I know on my 3g iPod Touch, I accidentally updated to 4.3.4 but was able to find 4.3.3 and downgrade.
Not sure if their is a JB for 4.3.5 yet.

Also, their are a few Cydia apps out there that will save your JB apps (some back them up, others just save what apps they were and let you reinstall them).

edit: 4.3.5 has a tethered JB available with Redsn0w

This tells how to downgrade, but if you just get the 4.3.3 file, I believe it will let you upgrade from 4.2.1 (but not 100% sure on this). Worst case is upgrade to 4.3.5 and then downgrade.
