The thing about using these as boot drives is that people on the forums at OCZ report that a boot is 1min+ due to the need to initialize the board before boot.

Of course you can always just sleep the system, but I have a motherboard that works with this drive but doesn't like to sleep.

Interesting - my raid card drives me nuts as it is for the same reason, an additional 30 seconds for the card to initialize is a major problem. Guess I'll be sticking with sata as usual.

The SSD will only advance further, but until they are better I'm not touching them, obvious MFGs are holding out on us, big time....

I'll play the same game they do, I'll hold out till they deliver something that moves at the speed of Light-Peak & doesn't cost and Arm, Leg, and First Born either...

Thanks, but the waiting game hast just begun for me...

Not an issue here...only boot once a day. biggrin.gif
Mine will be in place Tuesday...let ya know how it does.

Boot time measured from the Windows startup screen....NOT from the time you press the power button.
The RD3X2 requires more initialization time after starting and will take longer, however once you get to the startmeup screen, yeah its fast from there.

http://www.hardwareheaven.com/reviews/1238/pg12/ocz-revodrive-3-x2-480gb-pcie-ssd-review-load-times.html

"....the first is the time taken to boot to a responsive Windows 7 desktop. For this the time recorded is from the "Windows Starting" screen appearing to the stage when out pointer becomes active on the desktop."

That is correct.... 6 seconds!.... that fast!
