Is this OC good?

post #1 of 10
Thread Starter
This is my first time overclocking my card, and I was wondering if I should keep going. I have a PNY 465 fully unlocked to a 470. Here's my clocks:
Voltage = 987
Core = 800
Shader = 1600
Memory = 1703
Fan Speed = 75% with 82C max

I used Kombuster to test stability, with no stability issues. How else can I test stability?

That's a pretty good overclock. Playing games is also a good way to test the stability of your overclock.

I don't have many games yet. I have the Mafia II demo, Portal 2, GTA IV with some mods, CIV V, and a couple more demos.

A few loops of Heaven bench is pretty good for some stability testing as well, but playing the games you play is still the best.

Another question, when I turn on my monitor (Older HP vs17) it says the refresh rate is 59.9hz, would I be able to change that or is it hurting performance?
post #7 of 10
That's a serious OC and if it's trully stable at those voltages you can push it past 800MHz with no probs.

I'm downloading Heavenbench right now to test stability. I wish i had the $ for an aftermarket cooler
Could anyone recommend an Aftermarket one?
I'm new to overclocking so I don't really know what I'm doing yet
And is the 59.9hz hurting anything?

I ran it through a Heaven DX11 Benchmark with these settings:
Render:
direct3d11
Mode:
1280x1024 4xAA fullscreen
Shaders:
high
Textures:
high
Filter:
trilinear
Anisotropy:
4x
Occlusion:
enabled
Refraction:
enabled
Volumetric:
enabled
Tessellation:
normal

Ran through the whole bench without any problems, fans on 80% and 83C max temp. Same clocks as before with 987 voltage.
This is what I scored:
FPS:
50.5
Scores:
1272
Min FPS:
8.8
Max FPS:
118.9

Should I keep going?
