Can any one help me with that! I recently changed my Q6700 to this and I want to get 975 BE but after reading some threads some guys said to OC 955 instead of 975BE?

I would just go with the 955. You should be able to OC it easily to 3.6ghz with the stock cooler, and if you get aftermarket cooling it should be able to go much further than that.

The 955 and the 975 are exactly the same chip, it would be stupid to buy the 975. The 975 might be higher binned, but average they OC just as good.

Only get the 965/975/980 chips if you are after a nicely binned chip for subzero or water.
Had slightly better luck with the higher 9xx chips but for the most part they all can get near or hit 4ghz with decent cooling. My 965 clocks higher than the 970 I had for a short bit and higher than a friend's 975. Go for the 955 and clock to where you want. Bulldozer is out soon anyways.

955 BE is the chip you want to get

the 975 (3.6GHz) is what .4 more than the 955 (3.2GHz)

975 BE price - $179.99 newegg
955 BE price - $119.99 newegg

$60 difference . you're willing to pay $60 for .4 GHz more?

when you can put that $60 into an aftermarket cooler and OC to 3.8GHz + ?

pretty obvious choice for me ^^ . only because I decided to get the 955 BE instead of the 965 BE . due to price and the .2 GHz difference.

This.
Don't bother wasting the extra money on a 975.
Even if you buy that, you wouldn't get far on stock cooling, which means you'll have to put out more cash to buy a aftermarket cooler.

EDIT: And IIRC the 975 doesn't OC so well? Let me check.

EDIT 2: It OCs alright. About 4.3GHZ is what most people seem to get. But still, you'll have to buy a cooler either way.
