How can i alter my current PC setup to get the best out of Adobe After Effects? - Page 2

After Effects 6.5 is from 2004. That is no type. I didn`t write CS 6.5. There is a difference!

BTW: For all the stuff i wrote I gave references and links as a proof - so why lose respect for a post where i wrote things that are proofen?
No proof or reference was given for:

Which is simply not true because 3D rendering and After Effects both need lots of CPU power. The more the better. Your workflow and your deadlines will love it.

Or this:

Which is wrong. I gave reference to Adobe which proofes that the 32bit version of After Effects (CS4) is able to use more RAM because of background processes.
And CS6 doesn`t matter because After Effects CS5 is 64bit ONLY !
There is no 32bit version of AE CS5!

Does After Effects still support 32-bit operating systems?
No, because the performance benefits of native 64-bit support make it the best choice for the demanding technical requirements of working with video, particularly HD and higher resolution content. Offering only 64-bit support enables Adobe to optimize performance even further

I hope there are no hard feelings left. None of my post is meant as a disrespect or anything. I just wanted to help. We are all OCN members and After Effects users and should respect and help each other.
If i made any mistake or gave some wrong information I will of corse admit that I am wrong.

Lol, quite the hot topic. Thanks for the responses guys.
Ive not got any issues with what version of AE ill be using. Im going to CS5.5 ....but ill be changing Vista anyways, it was the plan when i first built it to eventually upgrade. Seems like if im adjusting other components, i will inevitably add that into the mix.

Mr Eiht are you suggesting that 16gb is not enough or that 12gb is too little? I didnt know whether i could sense a touch of sarcasm in ''Yeah. Sure. Look at the attached image. Thanks.'' lol.

I do regularly get an error message regarding OpenGL... so maybe a better card would be a plan! GTX 580 seems to be the popular recommendation there. Ive looked into it. And the 580 seems like the best for price and performance combined. 590 seems crazily priced!!

It seems like my best option to maximise the program would be to get:
CPU i7 2600k
OS Windows 7 Ultimate
GPU GTX580 or workstation card
RAM 16gb?
and potentially a SSD ...... if funds permit.

And then buy an Mac Pro. lol

Yeah straight scarcasm. Like you saw in the image for this comp 12GB where not enough. I just wanted to inform you that +12GB would be no waste. It is used by AE. Some comps and large resolutions need it.

Where do you get this error? Would be nice to know...
With the new funky ATI drivers AE is unable to use my g.card (OpenGL).
Soon I will use the old drives that supported my card in AE.
But this is ATI crap. With a nvidia you SHOULD be fine.

Yeah i like to stick to nvidia! Like their cards. Been looking at these workstation cards, they look amazing. But my god... the prices lol. Seems like the Quadro 4000 is rather lovely. What dya reckon graphicsman? Can see where youre coming from with the cards being specifically designed for that sort of use!

I usually get the error if i've got my resolution set to full and im attempting to preview some work in the composition. And after ive been working on it for a while. It says.....'Open GL failed to load shader'.... ? Shed any light on that. Tbh, im fairly naive on the whole OpenGL anyways. :/
