CPU speed frequently changes!!!

Thread Starter
Hello overclockers,

First, I'm a bit new to overclocking, so far I've only used software to do so (never used the BIOS, and that's what I'd like to learn).
Now, my Phenom II x4 955be has been running smoothly @3.6GHz so I've decided to boost it up using Turbo-V evo and it is now running @3.8Ghz.
BUT, when I open CPUZ the speed and the multiplier keep on changing randomly. How can I stop that and keep it running at a fixed speed? Also, if there is a complete, easy to follow guide on how to overclock CPU/RAM from the BIOS.

Thank you.

Did you turn cool and quiet off in the BIOS?
It's cool and quiet. It's a good feature that throttles the CPU on idle, it will go back to high clocks if you run any application that needs power. It's not smart to turn it off, unless it's causing you performance problems. It will safe power and keep your CPU cool.

When overclocking, disable the feature.
Once you find your final setting, enable the feature and see if you have stability issues.
Once again...

I loled.
Anyway, you should leave it enabled since it lowers temps and reduces power consumption. Only disable it if you are having stability problems.

I was thinking it was the throttling from the VRM getting really hot myself.
