Going to take a shot in the dark and say yes. See if you can find a review on google that get's into the GUI bios and see if there is a ACC funtion or anything of the sort.

i already checked the asus site it doesn't mention yes or no but a review for the EVO has an option called Core ON/OFF function so the non evo might have it as well and if not then no big deal.

when i get the board i will say if its good or not on OCN biggrin.gif

The M5A97 does indeed have the ability to unlock cores. Too bad it could not on my CPU though.

Yes it can unlock, I own one and tried my PII X2 on it and could unlock it to 3 cores like my previous ASUS motherboard.
Yes it most defiantly can. I just bought this motherboard along with a Phenom x2 565 and it unlocked it to a Phenom x4 B65 biggrin.gif so i saved $60 on my CPU with this motherboard. The ASUS AI Suite Program that it gives you to use inside of windows to overclock is vary handy and easy to use. It has a very good "Auto Overclock" feature. it took my cpu up to 4.0GHz and it was stable ran Prime95 for 24hours no errors.
