Purchases: Microcenter in Cali (+taxes) vs Online in Nevada (no tax)

This may not be the right area for this thread, so if there is a better place please move it mods!

I'm helping a friend build a production machine for 3D/2D work and I was wondering if sending him to Microcenter (the Orange County store) for some parts (they have godly discounts on products as everyone knows) or whether purchasing online to my place in Nevada is a better choice?

So basically:

Purchase @ Microcenter in California = Great deals but excessive tax
Purcahse @ Online in Nevada = Good/Marginal deals but no taxes (and usually free shipping)

Having been out of California for almost three years I know that taxes are something like 9.5+% plus all of the other crazy fees for recycling and otherwise can add up on purchases.

Any input from people who buy from Microcenters in California? Would buying online with no taxes be better or is it still cheaper at Microcenter when they have their insane deals?

I am not from Cali, neither have I ever been to a micro center... But why don't you do price research, compare against the two, buy the stuff that is cheaper online, online. The things that are cheaper with taxes and enviro taxes from the micro center.... Take into account shipping and such..

You may get better deals despite the tax.
i.e. if you're purchasing RAM in California, you often get a better deal paying the taxes at Newegg than not paying the taxes buying at TigerDirect due to higher prices and lower kit quality.
And eh, 9.5%... try 12% here in Canada where I live.

Funny, I was in both California (and in Orange County, AND at that particular Microcenter) and in Nevada (Las Vegas area) just lately
