Not sure what they do, but the mid-plate had thermal tape on them so I deduced they were affected by heat. I also ghetto rigged a fan from an old AMD CPU over the VRM's to dissipate heat (only one I had that would fit). And I'm running a stock BIOS. When you by-pass the resistors you've enabled free flow of power, so I didn't think it was wise to mod the power limit. I'm running a solid 1567mhz with minimal added voltage (50,000 mv I believe). That's a Linux setting. Sounds like a lot but it only increases the voltage to 1.25 or so.

During this I also discovered this 950 is actually a "nano" card with a plastic tail piece to make it appear as one of the big boys. I removed the tail piece along with all stock mid and back plates. Stripped 'er down to the bare essentials. Like a race car. She even has a roll bar of sorts with the copper wire I used to fab a fan mount bracket. I had to drill holes in the PCB to mount it. That's why I know there is no warranty. No guts, no glory! tongue.gif
Is the resistor mod comparable to the power limit mod, or more of a standard volt mod?

The 660ti PE has a default clock of 1.175v, which I've increased to 1.225v with the Kepler Bios Tweaker, so also 50mv increase. On Frozen Panda they can fold at 1346MHz. The secondary with the power limit mod was able to go to 1372MHz and did so for nearly two weeks, and I presume that mod is why the card failed.

900 series cards have a built in resistor to limit power no matter how much you increase it with the slider or in the BIOS. See this:

That's exactly the mod that I did with the 660ti...

I have one of those. It is a refurb that I got for $135 US. It is between a 980 and a 960 on the MB so it is running stock with the fans at 75%.

So it seems I'm finally adding bonus points to the TC now.

I also see that we have no i7 folder on board, is that correct...?

You do have an I7 folder @black06g85 but not a Nvidia folder.

I can temp fold a gtx980 if needed to keep the team competitive.
and if you can pull them out of that one week. I know it was only averaging about 25-26k ppd with the 2 cards folding that week.

So little? What's wrong with the cards...?
