Still in Beta - Page 371

You will want to either use Ubuntu, or something based of Ubuntu because thats what all the guides are for. Personally I use Lubuntu, I know @4thKor is having good luck with Mint. Pretty much any distro thats debian based should work.

Mint is very easy to set up.

I'll switch to Linux as soon as I beat @animal0307 for place 8 in the GPU-W category by Monday biggrin.gif

I'm guessing GPU overclocking will be BIOS-only? What about monitoring like GPU-Z and HFM.NET?

The latest. And I took bits and pieces from two guides and improvised the rest. PM me for details.

gpu-z doesn't work in Linux. HFM is a pain to setup and I never did get it working 100% correct in Linux. I run hfm from an old netbook with windows on it.

As far as overclocking gpu in linux, you can adjust core clock, and set manual fan % from the GUI. Adding voltage you have to use terminal commands. Powerlimit has to be adjusted via bios.

Did you write this up? If so, thumb.gif Hardest part is getting the driver from the NVidia site to work properly.

With Mint when you reboot after installation it goes to "safe mode" because of no drivers. You have a pop up and it has a "drivers" button. Install the reccomended driver, then follow the guide for uninstalling it and installing the right one. Piece of cake. I've had two systems that boot-looped with Ubuntu due to no video drivers.. The "safe mode" bypasses that headache. And I like the cool mint green. tongue.gif
