Tri SLI 580 - Low Vantage score

Thread Starter
Hey people,

I have recently 'finished' my SR-2 build, only needs the second CPU.
But runs fine on the first one for now.

The problem is, that my Vantage GPU (and thus the total P score) is significantly lower then where it should be when I compare it with other people.

I own 2 Asus GTX 580 and 1 EVGA GTX580.
I've tried troubleshooting this myself but nothing seemed to work.

Basic hardware:
EVGA SR-2
1x Intel Xeon E5645 @ 3,48 Ghz (LinX 20 runs, max size stable)
Corsair Dom GT 6 Gb 2000 mhz @ 1960 mhz, 8-9-8-24
3x GTX 580 @ 925/2200 clocks, FurMark stable
1x MSI n210, for extra monitors
Corsair AX1200
All parts watercooled.

4 monitors:
2 'main' screens (not in surround) on the GTX 580 SLI
2 extra monitors controlled by the n210 card.

Anything else I'm forgetting?

Some BIOS settings:
Bclk: 193
IOH Voltage: 1,4 (tried going up 'till 1,45, no good)
IOH PLL 2,1
NF200 Voltage: 1,3 (tried going up 'till 1,35)
Need any more bios info?

What I've tried:
Disabling the MSI n210
Unplugging 1 of the 2 main screens so only 1 is connected to the SLI setup
Switching the main monitor from card 1 to card 3.
Upping BIOS voltages of related chips.
Enabling "disable PPU" and PhysX on, or disabling "disable PPU" and PhysX off.

Non of these seemed to have any positive or negative influence on the score.
My CPU score is a bit lower than others, but the big difference is in the GPU score.
Where my setup scores in the 40k's, others are running in the 60k's.
Maybe I'm missing some little setting somewhere, but I'm personally running out of options here...
Screenie included, and comparison screenie (not my own)

Thanks

How is your load in afterburner for all three? Are all loading +95%?

Killer setup btw

Are you sure these people your up against aren't running like Sandy's at 5.0GHz?

That CPU at 3.4 or thereabouts will handicap you severely vs. a heavily OC'd SB chip in this particular test, not the CPU score (because that one will make use of the extra threads you have) but the GPU score. I don't think the graphics tests can utilize more than 2 CPU cores, so your 12 cores at 3.4 are going to be quite a bit slower than an SB at 5.0GHz.

Bottom-line, Vantage Perf can become hugely CPU bottlenecked at framerates that high. You shouldn't even bother yourself with tests that run at 1280x1024 with tri-SLI 580's.

You should be comparing your score on Extreme, or at least on High settings. Or better yet, 3dMark11 in Extreme. THAT is an appropriate test for that setup.

I agree with brettjv, cpu speed is a huge factor in Vantage Perf.

Here's mine from the last time I ran it..

And here's a 3DMark11 if you want a comparison..

I've run a test with processor activity and framerates in the background.
I'm affraid you're right.

Too bad really, there are little points to get in E presets with Vantage on HWBot.
The low multiplier on the CPU prevents me from reaching higher clocks.
Maybe it's time to save up $2500 and get my hands on some X5680's
