XFX HD6870 vs 560 Ti

Thread Starter
How does this card compare to a 560 Ti?
http://ncix.com/products/?sku=62756&vpn=HD687AZHFC

I can't really tell if the XFX HD6870 Black Edition is that much better? It seems more pricey...

Either way, how much faster do you think this card would be on my sig rig? If I turn AA down all the way should I expect to see games run at max detail 60FPS vsync enabled on 1920x1080? And just to make sure, do you think I will see any bottleneck from my CPU whatsoever?

Thanks,

They're pretty much on par. For that price go for it and NCIX also has tremendous service so if you get buyer remorse I believe they will accept that you return it anyway.

P.S. We have the same monitor and you're saying it's a 75Hz monitor, are you sure about that? I'm pretty sure it's only a 60Hz...

Yeah, when I bought the monitors they said 75Hz on the product page. But now I found out that 75Hz only works on lower resolutions

Oh well, maybe it's very unlikely I will notice any difference.

I'll adjust that right now

According to this comparison the HD6870 has a higher pixel rate than the 560 Ti:
http://www.hwcompare.com/8890/geforc...adeon-hd-6870/

But why do the games run 13-28% faster on the 560Ti?

Thanks,

Well I can't answer your above question, but I would say if you're still deciding between the two cards, I would personally recommend the 560Ti. It will out perform the 6870 in many games, but keep in mind both the cards are roughly up to par and the 6870 is a bit longer than the 560Ti. Also if you decide to play on a higher resolution such as 2560x1600 the 6870 will most probably do better due to the higher pixel rate and slightly more RAM. If you're big on saving energy (treehugger stuff or maybe you just want to save some money on your power bill) the 6870 will do that for you (maybe?), but I can be certain that it will run cooler. Anyways I would say pick up a 560Ti, you can buy a few here on OCN in the For Sale section.

560 is definitely the faster card but nothing can come close to beating XFX 6870 AR (after rebate) price/performance.

I must agree with that, ATI/AMD always seem to price their products at the right price.

Definatly 560 ti. They OC like beasts and can easily reach performance levels within a gtx 570.
