Safe 24/7 vcore for my Phenom II x3 705e?

Thread Starter
Here's a link to the processor: 705e

Right now I'm running at 3.5ghz with 1.3v, which is a 1ghz overclock. I have the NB at 2240mhz and the HT Link around 2000mhz. Besides the vcore, I have the NB Voltage and CPU NB VID voltages up one notch. Load CPU temps don't go over 35C.

What do you guys think? Think I can up it higher and it be fine 24/7? I've noticed a lot of x4 955 and 965 members hover around 1.4v. Don't know if I should stick with less vcore since I only have 3 cores compared to 4.

Thanks in advance. cheers.gif

Well honestly I would say 24/7 safe would be 1.50, just because... 1.55 on a cheap board that doesn't have vdroop may hit well over that. Just see if you can unlock them and where exactly the OC falls stable with 4 then determine if you actually benefit.

Edit: not saying your board is cheap, I was just saying across the boards.

We're not saying 1.55v in BIOS, but 1.55v after counting in Vdroop, LLC, etc.. Because that is your actual voltage.

Go for it, if your cooler can handle it. Should get well over 4ghz with reasonable voltages.

is that a stable overclock you got ? seems awful fast for 1.3v on an old c2 chip.
yeah 1.5v is max you want for voltage.
you shouldnt need a voltage bump for that nb speed. auto volts should be fine up to 2600. have you tried that yet ?

caleb, I tried uplocking the 4th core and yet again it wouldn't work. I've finally accepted that it's a dud.

pc-illiterate, after performing some more stress tests, I've found that it's actually stable around 3.45ghz (games would unexpectedly crash after playing for certain lengths of time at 3.5ghz). I have it running at 3462mhz right now with no NB Voltage or CPU NB VID voltages. I didn't know if providing a little extra juice to these settings would further stablize my OC or not. Will it? Obviously, I don't want increased voltages if there's no benefit. I didn't know NB could handle up to 2600ish speeds with default volts.

The BIOS and CPU-Z pick up my 1.3v setting as 1.296v and its stepping is "2" and revision is "RB-C2."

most c2 x3 top out at 3.6-3.7 and thats with a lot of volts USUALLY.
you might be able to get 2700 on nb with auto volts but you'll probably crash any higher than 2700.
get as high a core clock as you can with 1.45 volts. i dont like going over 1.475 at all. your safe up to 1.5 but imo it isnt worth the extra heat generated.

Well how long have to been doing the stress tests? After you get to the point where you think you want to be let it stress test for 50 runs of linx. If it passes that it should be fine. Also if it doesn't up your vcore one step, if it fails, put vcore back and up your nb one if that doesn't work try putting vcore back with the nb where you just had it. Sometimes amd does better OCs with tighter timings lower freq so if the voltages dont work you may want to try to tighten your ram timings some. That is what was making my OC unstable. To the PC-illiterate part, we all were once. You will get the hang of it.

Nope. Even if you're 200 runs LinX stable at maximum memory, you can still crash in the first 30 minutes of Prime95. What I would do, is run 9+ hours of Prime95 Blend and then some LinX.

pc-illiterate, I'll up the NB Freq and see how it goes. Edit: I changed the multi, which upped it to 2484mhz. It definitely wouldn't run stably on stock CPU NB volts: I had to up it .125+ just to boot into Windows.

caleb, when you mention "nb" are you referring to the "CPU NB VID Voltage" or "NB Voltage?" My motherboard has both settings.

I've been using Prime95 for stressing.
