Achieving max 1090T overclock

post #1 of 5
Thread Starter
I'm pretty much new to overclocking, but I want to achieve the best possible overclock on my GA-990FXA-UD3

Currently I have my CPU overclocked at 4Ghz

1090toc.jpg

CPU Vcore = 1.36
FSB = 236
Multiplier = 17x
NB = 2.6Ghz

Max Load temp was 40c

If you guys have any suggestions I'd be happy to hear them :]

No one knows what your maximum OC is. Just start bumping up your multi or fsb and see just how high it goes. Just stay under 55. If you have problems try increasing your north bridge and maybe even lowing your NB freq. Make sure you keep the HT around 1800-2200.

What should my max CPU voltage be and what would you recommend I get my NB frequency to and NB voltage? Sorry I'm pretty new to this oc'ing stuff cheers.gif

Ok, well your max CPU voltage is 1.55, but honestly most of us here keep it around 1.475 some of the more adventurous go 1.50. As far as NB I leave it where it is at, but I overclock using FSB. So 2800mhz... HT is to be kept between 2200 and underneath your NB freq. Just drop your HT one multi and you should be golden. biggrin.gif

1.36v for 4.0 is normally too low but your board probably compensate with another voltage setting like LLC or PLL according to cpu load.

The ranges are:
cpu 4.0-4.2ghz @ 1.47-1.5v without LLC or PLL if you are lucky.
cpu-nb 2800-3000 @ 1.3v-1.35v (CPu-nb voltagE)
HT should always be around 1000 or 2000
If you overclock by FSB(Base clock) you may also need normal NB voltage. Just a tiny bit if it's unstable.
