no FPS increase when ocing - Page 2

OC a graphics card doesnt give you much performace increase in games I've found. I did a 150MHZ core overclock and I think may have gained a FPS average in all my games.

I decided the FPS wasnt worth the head and fan noise so I just kept mines stock.

Overclocking a GPU [as long as its not cpu limited] is directly proportional to gains that you get. i.e. your "150mhz" o/c would typically net ~ 18% gain over stock clocks (being 800mhz) which would mean that if you previously had 30fps you would now have 35. GPU overclocking [again as long as you aren't CPU limited] is the best way to see performance gains.

It's possible that your card can't handle the 150mhz boost and is down-clocking therefor you don't see any boost in performance, otherwise you should see a significant raise in FPS

use a better means to test for stability and its performance for flip sake. Use OCCT and turn error checking on, that will really see if its stable. Just have your fan turned right up as its very heavy on the gpu and temps will be toasty. Then do a few unigine heaven runs and monitor your average fps
