I asked them if they can price match Amazon's price at $199.99, but they said they can't. They had it for $299.99, so I decided I'll just buy it online. Saw Musiciansfriend.com as one of the seller from Amazon and decided to contact them first and ask about their return policy and how long to ship the item. They have 45-Day 100% Satisfaction Guarantee, so that's good and they ship from Kansas. I placed my order and they said it should be here by Monday or Tuesday next week . I also got a $10 discount on my next purchase . Can't wait to set them up next week.

Btw guys what sound card would pair nicely with the BX5a? Also I might consider your sub setup SomeDood.

lol I also saw the BX8a and Rokit 8 and they were huge ....I can't believe I was considering of getting those for my small pc setup .
If I'm not mistaken, most people would tell you to use a USB DAC instead of a sound card, but don't quote me on it. I have no idea why they would say that. I'm actually very interested in the answer as well.

I use the Xonar DX, and frankly it sounds fantastic with BX5as. I don't think you'd really need anything higher quality than that. You don't have to worry about powering them since.. you know.. they're active.

The 8" ones are over kill if just used as small PC set up. The 5" ones are already pretty big. But they are beastly.

The sub definitely compliments these speakers very nicely. As for a sound card.. I have no suggestions. I haven't bought or really looked into sound cards since '07 when I got my X-Fi Platinum since it's still kicking.

I'll decide on the sub and sound card once I get my BX5a all setup by next week.

and yeah those 8"s are overkill ....they are I think bigger than my 23" samsung monitor.

right now I am thinking where and how I am going to place the speakers. There really is no room on my table since I have 3 screens on it. a stand would also take up space in my 12"x12" room. A wallmount, however, seems more doable, but exactly how to mount it or what to use is something I would have to figure out once the speakers arrive.

However you choose to set them up, I'll just reiterate the common advice for monitors; angled 60 degrees towards you, same distance from you as they are from each other, tweeters ~ear level, and 6"+ free space behind them.

woah lowest on amazon is now $235 and the store where I bought mine is now selling bx5a at $299.99. Good thing I grabbed it before it went up.

bx5a not that good:/ (to my ears)
i did comparing of about 20 different speakers (a year ago so i dont quite remember)
and the tannoy 501a's had the clearest mids and highs
people rate the monster audio speakers too highly, imo.

Hey guys how did you connect your BX5a to your desktop?

I know that the BX5a has TRS and XLR input port, but my desktop only has a 3.5mm output port.

I also know that a Y-splitter cable from 2 XLR/TRS plug to 3.5mm plug or XLR/TRS to RCA can be used and can be purchased anywhere, but I'd like to know the best connection for my setup.

Maybe suggest to get a diff sound card with rca connector rather than 3.5mm...... or something....idk...but please let me know.

Also I was reading about balanced and unbalanced connection, but still have no idea what it is. If someone could explain it to me in layman's terms....dumb it down a bit for the poor ole lad .

Also, does it matter if the connectors are gold plated or it doesn't matter?!?!?!

@SomeDood
I know you have BX5a and a Dayton SUB120, but I am interested in how you setup the connections and what cables you use. Some pics would be nice , so I get a visual understanding of how things goes behind stage. Thanks very much!!!

edit: btw my sig rig mobo has a toslink/optical out...if that even helps .
