Nvidia Gtx 560 Ti or AMD Radeon 6950 OC

Thread Starter
I am having trouble deciding which is better. In some cases Nvidia wins outright and in some cases Amd wins. Which graphic card is better and why?
6950 for overclockability! With 6970 clocks it will pwn and the cards look better in my opinion. HOWEVER, AMD drivers absolutely suck >.<

The 6950 is the faster card in gaming.
If you can unlock it to a 6970 its a big plus.

Dont be affraid of AMD drivers, there just as good as Nvidia drivers.
I have had ALOT of cards and never have driver problems. not with AMD and not with Nvidia drivers.

If you need Physx/Cuda the 560ti is the only way to go.
Physx/Cuda is not very noticeable in games and its just a handfull of game's that use it.

You guys do realise that unlocking yields an almost insignificant performance increase right? Overclocking to 6970 clocks has a far larger effect.

Read this awhile back and thought i'd dig it up:

Well you unlock it and then overclock.
This wouldnt be OCN if we just unlocked the shaders and not overclock it.

Your right though, overclocking yields more then unlocking the shaders, But every little bit helps

If you plan to unlock you will most likely have to buy a reference card (to be safe, as some non-reference cards have found ways to stop it), which usually feature pretty awful cooling solutions. If it comes to say a Sapphire reference design or a Twin Frozr by MSI take the Twin Frozr because you'll get more out of it.

Get the 6950 bud, don't worry about unlocking it or flashing, the few extra shaders don't do anything significant, just overclock it.

You can overclock it better than the 560, which means you will get a couple of extra FPS. Also the current AMD drivers are great, people for some reason are stuck on the idea that AMD drivers "suck" but really they're just as good as Nvidia now, if not better.

Again your right.
Best option IMO is a reference design card on wich you slap an aftermarket cooler. A bit expensive way to go though.
