BFBC2 dedicates 1 core exclusively for the audio.
So when it struggles either processing audio or the game itself, it lags.
That is why they recommend you to have a quad core.
BFBC2 is very CPU dependent.

Also you should go into UserCP and fill out your system specs.

I ran BF:BC2 on a dual core with no real issues. I couldn't have the settings jacked all the way up, but with the 5850 it ran smooth... maybe in the 30-45 frames range? It was enough I could pwn nubs.

Perhaps its a driver issue? Have you tried using different version of your nVidia drivers to see if you had better luck with frames?

I was going to recommend DX9 but you already got that, definitely seems like a driver issue.

If you want to see how much bc2 needs a quad core, specifically in multiplayer, run a bench in single player and see the difference. I go from 30-40 fps online to 80+ fps in single player.
