what programs should i use to measure idle and 100% load temps? what program should i use to load the processor? I want to do a before/after comparison.

thanks.

I would recommend using CPUz, GPUz, Fanspeed, Prime95 and Furmark. Run them all at once. Here is a pic for my system "under load". Run it for at least 15 minutes before taking your screenshot (a half hour is better). The right monitor shows the software I'm running while the left monitor shows Furmark running:

I like fanspeed because it lets you keep an eye on your fans as well as your temps. You can also customize it for your particular system. Afterburner is just being used to control the fans on my video cards although it's great for keeping an eye on video card temps, fans and load (and clocks if you desire). If you go with Afterburner you don't need GPUz, but it's still a great piece of software.

Question:
Is your I7 2600K 4.73 at 1.352 overclock with hyperthreading on and all cores active? The best I could do was 1.44Vcore and when Prime95 my temps were at 78 86 86 83 at 29.4 ambient with a H20 920...

I don't own an i7, but isn't 1.44V really high? I have been paying attention to what people post and it seems to me 90% of i7 overclocks stay under 1.4v. You should go into an i7 overclocking thread and ask there.

Question:
Is your I7 2600K 4.73 at 1.352 overclock with hyperthreading on and all cores active? The best I could do was 1.44Vcore and when Prime95 my temps were at 78 86 86 83 at 29.4 ambient with a H20 920. Really dissapointed with the Vcore and temps. I know if I drop Hyperthreading my temps will drop 10c and I can bring my Vcore down. But if that's what I wanted I could have saved money and got the I5 2500K. Just ordered the H100 from NewEgg. I have an old Corsiar Nautilus 500 that worked great on my 1055T 4Ghz OC (55c) Prime95. Did change out the radiator a few years ago but it keeps the heat out of the case and is really quite.

Yes. HT enabled, all cores active. Ambient temp. is 22C, about 72F, 24x7. Maybe your cooler is a lemon? It isn't probable but still possible. Most likely you have a cpu that likes voltage. I've had them before. Your cpu performance is just the luck of the draw. Nothing can be done for that other than sell it for what you can get and replace it. The next one could be better, or even worse, than your present one. There are people at OCN and other Forums that have far better performing cpu's than mine. What you get is what you get. Unless you happen to be rich enough to buy and test more than few cpu's. CPU production is nowhere close to being an exact science. There are umpteen variables that effect each and every cpu produced.
Other than replacing the cpu all I can recommend is to try reapplying your TIM. I've started using Prolimatech PK-1 Nano Aluminum Thermal Compound, but it shouldn't make such a large difference in your temps. from mine. I'd bet that you just have a power hungry cpu. I've owned them before and just tried to ignore their high power consumption. So far, I haven't had one to fail.

How loud would this unit be with 4 fans (yate loons), worth putting shroud in to reduce noise? I have the H70 currently and the pulling fan makes that loud whiney noise, I fear that it will get worse with 2 on the h100.

I don't know. But, supposedly, the fans that come with the H100 are not the same as those that come with the H70.
I don't know why Corsair doesn't offer their fans for sale separately and with the full specs listed for each of the fans that they supply with their coolers. Some people may want to add a matched pair of Corsair fans for push/pull on whichever cooler they own or have ordered.
Personally, I don't like Corsair fans and have replaced them on both my H70 and H100 with Aerocool Sharks. So far, I have three 140mm. Sharks in my Corsair Obsidian 700D and fourteen 120mm Sharks on various radiators, including my H70 and H100. They are obviously impressive, regardless of what most people say about them in this Forum. I think most people here have never owned any of them at all and are just fanboys ( sorry 'bout that, completely unintentional) of whatever fans that they're already using.

You should route that 8 pin mobo power cable under the cards at the back of the case. It's easy to do and it'll look a lot cleaner that way

Whats the sound like? Is the H100 loud?

I've seen reviews saying it makes a bit of noise but just want to get an actual users opinion as im considering one for when I go Sandy Bridge-E.

It revs high when you turn your PC on but then it goes very quiet. I have two UK 2000s as case fans and I cant here it over those. When I turn the UKs down, I have to check its actually running smile.gif
