A related question, do you know how macs perform with linux. What's the battery life like, and do they overheat?

Whats the big obsession with macbooks? Everyone at ASU raves about them, then I have my massive Asus G73 to play games they all frown upon.

I would imagine they would perform similar to OS X depending on the version, power settings, etc. - I have a MBP 13" with the i5, they are really powerful, not big for gaming, HD 3000 does ok in windows, regular usage ('net browsing, itunes and word) I get ~ 7 hours of battery life.

Maybe this should be a different thread, but is it possible to install Ubuntu with the disk (without installing windows).

And has anyone out there actually run ubuntu on a mac?
