G400 slippery sides - Page 2

Never had a MX518, but the G400 seems to be very grippy compared to other mice already.
It feels like the coating of a Xai/kinzuV1, but rougher so even better.

I tried this before the electric tape. It was great for a few hours then it was just as slippery as before tongue.gif I guess the bit of adhesive that came up from stretching the tape wore off?

I don't know that they're "dry", but my hands don't sweat unless it's really hot.

I use a 510 shell on my 518 because I prefer it so if the shell from V1 or V2 of the 518 fits you could just swap it over. smile.gif
Just a thought, I don't have a g400 yet so I don't know if it would work.
I considered doing this, but I've never poked around in an optical mouse before. I'm scared to lol.

It's actually pretty easy, the downside is bye-bye warranty but you take the stickers off the bottom of the mouse, remove 3 screws and pull the shell off. The only tricky bit is the scroll wheel has some small parts so doing it on a smooth surface is a good idea, it makes it easier to find the spring thing if it falls out. You can also adjust the loudness or smoothness of your mousewheel by bending a spring that makes the clicking sounds when you scroll.

I think the screws might be under the skates on the g400 but here's a guide for the 510 anyway, the 518 is designed the same way as the 510.

Heh the only casualty was that I peeled one of the mouse pads in half (removed the top layer). I'm going to replace it with mouse tape.

Yeah from inside they look the same. Each has a 8 or so wire connector that connects the top half to the bottom. Just pinch the sides to pull it out and you can swap them smile.gif
