Confused about hooking up the modular cables for SLI

Alright. I have to order some new modular cables so I can hook up my second 470. I just have no idea what to hook up where. I have 2 PCIE cables hardwired into the PSU, which are being used on the main card. I have 2 8pin slots on my PSU for modular cables. Each one is its own 12v rail.

Do I need to get 2 8 pin to 6 pin connectors, or can I get 1 8 pin to 2 6 pin connector. Kinda confused on that one. Since I figure the hardwired pcie cables are both on rail 2, and each 8 pin is its own rail. Just pretty lost here.

That's the user manual.

Just order two 8+2 pin modular cables for the two empty jacks you have available on the PSU.

It won't matter how you hook up your 2 cards with the 4 cables you'll have at your disposal. Whatever way is convenient is going to work fine.

If your machine shuts off due to power draw however you first hook it up ... try it a different way ... but I seriously doubt that'll happen

So, get 2 8 pin to 6 pin connectors?

Those?

Those will work fine Droogie. If they HAVE one that's 8-pin on the PSU end and 6+2 on the other end, I'd get those for the extra flexibility, but if they don't, two of those will work perfect

Then it's obvious how you need to hook up the cards

What do you mean 6+2?

http://store.antec.com/Product/acces...5-30181-7.aspx

That?

One of those will handle a 470?

Ordered 2 anyway.

That won't hook up to my video card, though. Both ends have to be male.

Here is a set. I'm sure if you browsed around Frozen CPU you'd find them.

Already ordered 2 cables from Antec. http://store.antec.com/Product/acces...5-30181-7.aspx

That should work, should it not?

One side looks as if there is only 4pin. The red side, now that I take a closer look. I think you ordered a 4+2 meaning two 4 pins. The red side is a 4pin connector and it needs to be 8pin to hook into your PCI-E modular PSU. That won't work.
