Looking for a laptop, $800 budget, for school

Thread Starter
I'm, looking for a laptop under $800, but I am willing to go up to $1000 if there is something really nice I see. I will be using it mainly for school and some light video editing. I will also go some light gaming on it (meaning BC2 lowest settings, etc. I don't care if it is at lowest settings as long as it plays).

Here are some things I am looking for:

- Preferably online so I do not need to pay sales tax (Amazon would be best)
- Preferably 7+ hours of battery life, but 5+ works as well
- I really want to try and avoid HP and Dell
- Preferably 900p or better screen but 1366x768 would be fine too
- Windows 7 obviously
- Preferably not too ugly, I like things that look nice, but nothing extremely flashy *coughMSIgaminglaptopscough*
- Preferably 2nd generation Sandy Bridge CPU since I will be doing some light video editting
- 13-15.6 inch screen

What would you guys recommend?

You can get quite a bit of laptop for your budget actually. I would check newegg of course since they're pretty much THE source. I really like this one.

The i5 is pretty nice naturally, includes win 7, has the 1366x768 screen, is NOT an hp or dell, and bought from an online retailer. The looks are purely up to you but I like the lines on this asus. I like the contrast between the screen bezel and the keyboard area. The GPU is pretty nice too as evidenced by this review of the graphics card.

The battery life isn't listed but I searched a couple of sites and they said you will typically get about 4-5 hours but I guess that's to be expected given the graphics card (not actually too bad I'd say). Hope this helps ya out.
