Removing office 2010...

Thread Starter
I'm having issues opening word documents in microsoft office 2010. I got a legit copy from my school. Apparently this program isn't being fully removed when I use the uninstaller because it's still asking if I want to start in safe mode after a complete reinstall of the program. Does anyone have any ideas how to COMPLETELY remove office 2010 because this is really getting on my nerves.

Thanks

If it's not fully removed after using the add/remove programs in Control Panel your best bet is to do it manually.

1. Delete all folders that have to do with Office. Start>Search and delete the main directory as well as anything else that installed with Office (any other folders).

2. Start>Run>regedit.

3. HKEY_CURRENT_USER>Software>Delete any folders relating to Office.

4. HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE>Software>Delete any folders relating to Office.

Restart after that, and then see if everything's working okay. You can also use a registry cleaning program (such as CCleaner for example) to make sure you didn't miss anything afterwards.

no luck... here is what it's asking me before I start word in safe mode... I'm starting to think it could be a virus?

This message can appear if, in a document you previously had open, you made changes to items such as styles and formatting, macros, toolbars, or AutoText, and those changes were not saved to the Normal template (Normal.dotm).

If you click Yes, the items in the Normal template, including any changes, will be available to all documents to which the Normal template is attached. If you click No, the changes will be discarded from the template. If you do not think you made changes to the Normal template, be cautious about loading it, because potentially malicious macros can be distributed in this way.
